Our walk concludes at Old Market. We locate the Bear and Bells pub which is a fascinated case study for how Beccles has changed. We hear how it got its name and people who frequented it in the 1950s remember it as a great place of a sing-song. Dougie Peck recalls two characters who spent a lot of their time (and most their money) there. But then we fast forward to the 21st century when it was bought by a former West End actor and his partner, Kevin Wainright, who turned it into a huge gastronomic success "bringing our London ways to Beccles". The walk ends with some thoughts from John Beauchamp with which we hope you will agree.
